Horse Share

All the horses and ponies available to share at Richmond Farm Stables in Barns Green are owned by Anne Hawes. They live out or in depending on the weather, are shod by L Gordon every six weeks, and are checked by an osteopath when they need it.
A half share is typically two days a week. We ask for some riding experience and a real commitment — horses notice when people stop turning up. We don't take complete beginners, and we don't usually take children under nine.

How it works
Horse and Pony Sharing / Leasing in West Sussex
The sharing scheme is suitable for both children (generally age 9 upwards) and adults who like the idea of having their own horse, but because of lack of knowledge, money or time find it a little too daunting.
Listening to what people would like to do and achieve with their riding, she watches how they ride and interact with the horses on offer and matches horse with rider.
Once a suitable horse or pony has been found, the sharer can look on it as their own but share the responsibility and care with Anne. Horses may be shared by a maximum of two people — however, sole sharing (leasing) is also on offer.
Please be aware there are a limited number of horses and ponies for novices.
Pricing
From £320
per calendar month for a half share, plus one month's deposit
Includes: Horse, feed, hay/haylage, bedding, stable, field, some stable duties, rug changing, turning out, bringing in, washing off, in-house health check and treatments when necessary, full good quality wardrobe.
Personal extras:
Cost of entries, lessons, escorted rides, transport, help at shows, plaiting for shows.
